Chad M. Michels

Chad M. Michels, 52 of Greenville died Saturday, September 27, 2025 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Appleton. He was born July 10, 1973 in Oshkosh, the son of Michael Michels and Carolyn (Bartels) Michels.

Chad had an aggressive melanoma that took him unexpectedly and way too fast. He was surrounded by his family. 

Chad went to Menasha high school class of 1992. He currently worked at Forbo Movement Systems.

Chad loved to read, spend time 4wheeling in Minocqua at his cabin, sitting around the campfire enjoying time with family & friends. He enjoyed spending time at his hunting land in Waupaca, planting trees and sitting in a tree stand. He was an avid sports fan and loved to watch football, especially the Packers. Chad enjoyed a ribeye that he grilled and a good glass of bourbon. He also loved spending time with his wife and two daughters.  

He is survived by his wife, Laura Halfmann Michels, daughters: Tyne and Ayla; his best buddy & cat Spur; his Mother, Carolyn, Little Chute; Father, Mike, Oshkosh; and Sister, Michelle (Justin) Cali of Florida; Nephews: Caleb, Jonah, Jacob; Niece, Calista Cali; Sister, Kirsten of Minnesota; Uncle Steve (Karen) Bartels of Pickett; Aunt, Linda (Roger) Anderson of Oshkosh; In-laws: Tom & Cathy Halfmann, Kim (Tim) Wagner, Aaron (Kat) Fond du Lac; and other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Eunice (Babe) and Don Bartels; his paternal grandparents: Victor and Margaret Michels; Aunt, Susan Hoppenjan; and Uncle, Pat Hennen.  

Visitation for Chad will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St., Appleton. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 8:30 a.m. and will continue until the time of the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Erik Roth.
