Carol Van Den Heuvel

Appleton – Carol Van Den Heuvel (Kraus), age 87, passed away while surrounded by family on Saturday, March 8, 2025. Born on December 26, 1937, in Stevens Point, Carol was the youngest of seven children born to Joseph F. and Olive H. Kraus.

Carol’s heart found its lifelong companion in James J. Van Den Heuvel, whom she married on February 7, 1959, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. James and Carol shared 62 years together before his passing. Carol deeply cherished and took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Carol’s legacy lives on through her children: Anthony (Margaret); James (Katie); Kristin (Troy) Mansfield; Paul (Melissa); Peter (Katherine); Carol Anne (Martin); Maria (Matthew) Ostrander; Katherine (Paul) Evelius; Elizabeth (Michael) Landre; and Bonnie (Jamal) Patterson. Carol is further survived by her 31 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, with two more great grandchildren arriving this year, and her niece/godchild Karen.

Carol now joins her beloved husband, James, her parents, and her siblings in eternal peace.
