Carol A. Franzke, age 81 of Appleton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her families love, on Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born on September 8, 1941 in Fond du Lac to the late August and Minnie (Ritzke) Klitzke. She graduated from Stockbridge High School, with the class of 1959. On June 23, 1964 she married Alfred Franzke; he preceded her in death on February 27, 2008. Carol was a wonderful homemaker and mother, caring for everyone in her family. Her care giving would lead her to her career of Certified Nursing Assistant, where she cared for people in nursing homes. She loved cooking, playing Bingo and cats. She was spunky with a quick wit and a sassy sense of humor. Carol enjoyed spending time at the farm, but most of all just spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She was a loving and caring person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her daughters; Lisa (Jeff) Cummings and Dawn (Merle King) Wheeler, grandchildren; Jessica, Jackee, Ashley (James) and John, great grandchildren; Anthony, Maria, Marcelino, Malia, Sage, Braxton and Cole. Carol is further survived by her sister, Leona Van Deraa, sister in law, Fran Pitz, special niece Charlene as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, Al, son, Michael Franzke as well as her sisters; Joan (Jack) Jansen and Donna Klitzke and her brothers in law, James Van Deraa and Robert Pitz.
Family and friends may gather on Friday, September 8, 2023, in celebration of her first birthday in heaven, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St, Appleton. A memorial service will follow at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Forest Home Cemetery, Forest Junction Wisconsin.
