Carol M Dussair, age 88, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026 in Appleton WI. She was born on May 22, 1938 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Harry and Velma (Ghezzi) Ramella.
Travel was one of Carol’s greatest joys. Of all the places, Paris held a particularly special place in her heart. She returned to the City of Light many times, drawn to its beauty, food and unmistakable magic. She also loved Pittsburgh. If asked about all the places she lived (which were numerous) Pittsburgh held the top spot.
Carol was quite simply sassy. She knew how to make people laugh and could turn an ordinary moment into a surprising revelation. She was incredibly bright, clever and in many ways, a force of nature.
Carol’s passport has stopped collecting stamps, but the places she went, the people she loved and the lives she touched will continue to tell her story.
Carol is survived by her children: Cheree (Joe) Plank, Steve (Pia) Dussair and grand-dogs, Virgil and Dave Plank, and grand cats Circe, Salem, SamiSam, Sybil and Mr Wiggins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Dussair and constant companion of the last 10 years, Lou Salvador.
A heartfelt thank you to her friend Cyndi Anderson for helping make her final years fun. And thank you to the staff at Silverstone Memory Care and Theda Care Hospice.
Carol lived a life worth remembering and she will be missed.
No formal services will be held.
