Obituary

Byron Henry St. Louis, 84 of Fremont, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at Cherry Meadows Hospice, Appleton. He was born in Little Chute on September 20, 1938 to the late Henry and Rosalie (DeBruin) St. Louis. Byron married Sharon Lee Krueger on September 27, 1958 and shared 55 loving years together before her passing on May 2, 2014.

Byron started working at a young age, first at Consolidated Paper for 24 years and then M & I Drilling for 17 years, retiring as a mill superintendent. Byron served his country in the United States Army Reserves. Byron was an avid bowler and fisherman, enjoyed hunting and going to the casinos. Morning walks were always on his daily agenda and he loved to sit in his chair and watch the lake, the birds and talk with his neighbors. He knew how to stretch the dollar by using coupons and shopping sales. He also had a love for sweets. His family meant everything to him and he will be deeply missed.

Byron is survived by his six children: Carrie (Mark) Kools, Appleton; Michael (Kelly), Appleton; Terri (Paul) Meiselwitz, Fox Lake; Tammy (Chip) Kerscher, Fremont; Steven, Madison; David (Tiffany), Gladstone, MI; and daughter in law, Lisa St. Louis, 16 grandchildren; Ryan (Danielle) Kools, Ben Kools, Stacy (Jon) Clark, Kassie (Troy) Machovsky, Joshua St. Louis, Katie Garrigan, Kyle (Autumn) Garrigan, Zach Meiselwitz, Jeremy (Cindy) Bottine, T.W. (Heather) Bottine, Jenny (Mike) Haupt, Emilee (Jake) Schumacher, Michael Kerscher, Madilynn St. Louis, Lilly St. Louis and Shayne Thede-Kramer. Byron is further survived by his 15 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding him in death are his parents, his wife, Sharon, his son, Todd, his brother, Gary St. Louis, sister, Judy (Merle) Christian, mother and father in law, Gordon and Luella Krueger and two great grandchildren.

In keeping with Bryon’s wishes, private family graveside services were held.

The family would like to thank the ThedaCare Hospice nurses and staff at Cherry Meadows for their compassionate care for Byron. A special thanks to Br. Ray Stadmeyer of St. Joseph Parish for spending time with our father over the last several weeks.
