Bonnie S. Bur

Bonnie Jean (Severson) Bur of Appleton, WI passed away peacefully December 6, 2025 surrounded by family at Dimensions Living in Appleton. 

Bonnie was born on January 3, 1934 in Nichols, Wisconsin to Emma and Clarence Severson, and was the oldest of 5 children. She was a devoted mother to Kelly (Mansoor) Shariff, Kevin (Terri) Bur, and Nic (Marlo) Bur, and a cherished grandmother to Alex, Elizabeth, Garrison, Jake, Julia, Lauren, Logan, Max, Megan, and Zach, and 9 great grandchildren. Bonnie is survived by sister Judy Eirschele, brother Ron Severson, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Emma and Clarence, brother Wayne, sister Bette and former husband Steve.

Bonnie had many interests and hobbies but also had a strong curiosity about other people’s interests and passions. She loved conversation, crafts, gardening, genealogy and honing her artistic painting talents (Rosemaling anyone?). Bonnie’s yearning to learn was passed along to her family through adventures to museums, historic places, libraries and enjoyment of nature. She loved spending countless hours tending to her garden, and especially enjoyed sharing her gardening know-how with her grandchildren. In retirement, Bonnie loved to stroll the beaches of Lake Michigan while depriving its shores of interesting sea glass, driftwood and stones. 

Bonnie was a beautiful person inside and out. To those who knew her, it was no secret she was fiercely independent. She had a great sense of humor and was skillful in using humor to put others at ease or to lighten a moment. However, of all Bonnie’s attributes, what was most remarkable was her devotion and the sacrifices she made for her children.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Dimensions Living in Appleton, Sequoia Medical Services, and Kayla and other nurses from AseraCare Hospice for the care and comfort they provided.

A visitation and funeral service will be held Saturday, December 20th for family and friends at Father Carr’s Life Enrichment Center, 1062 N. Koeller St. Oshkosh, WI 54911.
