Andrejs Sics, age 86, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at Living Tree Estates in Greenville. He was born in Latvia, on May 25, 1940 to the late Karlis and Melanija (Rutentals) Sics. Andrejs came to the United States in 1945 in search of a better life and new opportunities with his family. He first settled with a farming family in Seymour, Wisconsin, where he learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and community. He later made his home in Appleton.
For 39 years, Andrejs was employed as a millworker at Glatfelter Paper Mill, where he worked until retirement. While he worked hard throughout his life, his true passion was found in the great outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Andrejs felt most at home in the woods, on the water, or planning his next adventure. His love of the sport took him far beyond Wisconsin, including memorable trips to Alaska and South Dakota.
Andrejs is survived by his daughter, Melanie (Tim) Giles; grandchildren: Melissa (Andrew) Hughes, AJ (Caitlin) Sics; sister, Ilze Werner; and sister-in-law, Judy Sics. He was further preceded in death by his son, Andrejs David Sics; parents, Karlis and Melanija Sics; and brothers, Ludis and Martins Sics.
No formal services will be held.
The family would like to thank Donna Steinke for her assistance in guiding the family to finding Andrejs loving care at Living Tree and with Unity Hospice.
