Aloma Turner Obituary

Aloma Laverne Turner, 78, entered her heavenly home, that she earnestly pursued her entire life, on Monday, February 8, 2021.  Born to Malcolm and Alva (Bailey) Cook in West Virginia, she lived in several places throughout her life, leading her to Menasha, Wisconsin.

Aloma was revered for her wisdom and kind spirit.  Throughout her life she tirelessly served others living out her personal faith as a Christ follower.  Her greatest sources of joy were her family and serving with Wisconsin Ladies Ministries.  She was a friend and mentor to countless people, providing a guiding example of grace and love.

Aloma is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Ronald Turner and children Jacque Turner, Menasha; Rita (Bill) Hibbard, Kaukauna; Regina Turner, Green Bay; and Eric (Michelle) Turner, Shiocton.  Grandchildren:  Willie (Sarah) Turner, Amanda (Josh) Ellie, Austin Turner, Brandon Turner, Kayla Turner, Hannah Turner, Laura Turner, Angel Turner, Dylan Hibbard, Dalton Hibbard, and seven Great-Grandchildren.  Sisters:  Ometta Jean Cook, Edith (Donald) Whittekind.  Brothers:  Randal (Judy) Cook, Ben Cook, Burbridge Barnett (Molly) Cook.  Sister-in-Law:  Kay Cook.  Brothers-in-Law:  Rev. James Haynes, Steve Carter.  Aloma is further survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as over eighty foster children she cared for and nurtured.

In addition to her parents, Aloma is preceded in death by her father- and mother-in-law, Edison and Mildred (Rafferty) Turner of Ohio; brother, Malcolm Cook, Jr.; Sister Deborah Haynes; brother-in-law Richard (Mary) Turner; sister-in-law Nancy Carter; and grandson, Lucas Hibbard.

Aloma’s family would like to extend warm heartfelt gratitude for the special care given throughout her journey including Fresenius Kidney Care Northeast Wisconsin, Ascension Cancer Center at St. Elizabeth Hospital and the team of providers with Compassus Hospice Care.

A Celebration of Aloma’s life will be held at Apostolic Truth Church, 2720 Kesting Court, Appleton, WI on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 10:00 am.  Visitation will be from 8:00 am until the 10:00 am service.  Burial will follow at 11:45 am at Riverside Cemetery in Appleton.
