Werner Heinz Lasch, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2018 in Appleton.
Werner was born on April 27, 1930 in Treuburg, East Prussia, Germany, to his parents Max and Martha (Dybus) Lasch. Crossing the Inter-German border shortly after WWII, he made his way to the US. He worked various jobs, with the railroad, as a circus hand, baker, and butcher then settled in as a printer for American Can Company in Menasha. Along the way, he earned his citizenship and also served honorably in the US Army. Werner was a great family man and a loving father. He was a social and active man who could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a jack-of-all-trades and a teacher of life skills and important values. Werner enjoyed playing cards, fixing things, but mostly spending time with his family. He loved spending time at his beloved cottage and most importantly, helping friends. His family and friends will always remember him as a caring, involved person.
Werner is survived by his soul mate, Mary Zanto; a son, Peter (Katherine) Lasch, Monument, CO; his daughter, Sonja (David) Bagley, Janesville, WI; Mark Brandt, Appleton, WI; and five grandchildren, Michael, Aaron, Christopher, Logan and Katie.
