Theodore (Ted) C. Felzer, age 93, of Appleton, passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2018.Ted was born in Appleton on February 12, 1925 to the late Theodore W. and Ella (Kandler)Felzer. Ted attended Appleton High through his junior year, then enlisted in the U.S. Coastguard in 1942 at the start of WWII. Ted served on the Destroyer Escort USS Groton in the European, North African and Middle Eastern campaigns until his honorable discharge in 1946. He was one of the original members of the Americanos Drum and Bugle Corps from 1937 to 1942 when it was sponsored by the American Legion and was a lifetime member of the Harvey Pierre V.F.W. Post 2778 Appleton.
On April 19,1947 Ted married Helen Theresa Mauthe. During their 65 years of marriage they were blessed with five children; Mike (Linda), Sharon (Iltyd) Geare, Jeff, Chris and Randy (Ann). Grandchildren; Amy (Gary) Fiestel, Andrea (Sparky) Jury, Jennifer Geare (Matt), Stephanie (Marco) Damen, Carrie Felzer (George), five great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, wife Helen, sons Chris and Randy, as well as 2 sisters Honey and Sis.
Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, watching Packer games, and spending time at the cabin in Florence County. He especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog Karma.
A memorial service for Ted will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at Valley Funeral Home, with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Military Honors to follow the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Ted’s name at VFW Post 2778, 501 N Richmond Street, Appleton, WI 54911.
