Shirley Charmaine Kavanaugh, 79, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center of Neenah surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. She was born in Appleton on September 13, 1938, a daughter of Pearl (Frye) and Al Mader.

Shirley graduated in 1957 from Appleton High School. She was united in marriage to Patrick Kavanaugh on August 25, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kaukauna. She was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church, Appleton, for over fifty years.

Shirley truly loved spending time with her family and pets, enjoyed quilting, cooking, and gardening.

Shirley will be dearly missed by her three children: Dawn Blixt, Shawn (Lois) Kavanaugh, and Brenda Kavanaugh; grandchildren: Stephanie Blixt, Erin and Jared Kavanaugh; brothers: John (Barb) Mader, her twin Dave (Revanna) Mader; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick and her parents.

According to Shirley’s wishes, services will be private.
