Richard Hameister Obituary

Richard “Dick” Lee Hameister, 74, died on Monday July 15, 2019 after a courageous four year battle with cancer. He was born in Appleton on August 3, 1944, son of the late Arthur and Mary (Vanderzanden) Hameister. Dick married Kathy Audas on May 15, 1971.

Dick proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He and his late brother John, who served at the same time in the U.S. Army, were both proud to be able to travel together on the Old Glory Yellow Ribbon Honor Flight in 2016. Dick worked for AT&T for over 40 years, after a semi-retirement, he then worked at KS Energies. Dick served as president of the Telco Credit Union, which then merged with Fox Communities Credit Union; he proudly served on their board of directors for several years. Dick enjoyed reading, watching the Packers, and being outdoors, especially fishing in the Northwood’s. He and Kathy enjoyed traveling together, especially their trips to the Caribbean Islands.

Dick is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Kathy; his three siblings: Judy (Bob) Schabo, Barbara Hubener and Arthur (Pat) Hameister; brother in-law, Marty Auer; sister-in-law, Judy Hameister; and his special friend, Gene Emmerich. Dick leaves behind many dear family members and friends, too numerous to list but never forgotten. He was further preceded in death by his sister, Lois; and brother, John; brother-in-law, Merle Hubener.

A mass of Christian burial for Dick will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday July 23, 2019 at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 N McDonald. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday morning beginning at 9:00 until 10:45 AM, with mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Full military honors will follow.

Dick’s family would like to extend a special thank you to all of his caregivers over the years, especially the staff at Cherry Meadows, and Dr. Tate Fors and Orlando Taleon, for all of their care and compassion.
