Marvin John Gerrits, 87, of Kimberly, died peacefully at home surrounded by family, Saturday November 25, 2017. He was born in Black Creek on Monday April 7, 1930 son of the late Jacob and Catherine (Peeters) Gerrits. Marvin married Mary Kolosso on May 10, 1985.
Marvin was very active in many areas. In his younger years, Marvin coached basketball at the Appleton YMCA and bred and raised AKC registered Beagles. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, softball and hunting. Marvin also raced pigeons. He was an avid Bucks, Brewer and Viking fan. His greatest enjoyment came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Mary; his five children: Terry (Marlene) Gerrits, Beloit, Paula (Steve) Weyers, Seymour, Colleen (Richard) Poquette, DePere, Jolene (Mark) Waldburger, Menasha, and Mark (Ann) Gerrits, Black Creek; five step-children: Vicky (Pat) Harder, Hartland, Karen (Tom) Kokjohn, Kimberly, Valerie (Terry) Oscavich, Allentown, PA, Theron Grissman, Milwaukee and Kevin (Kelly) Grissman, Neenah; 10 grandchildren: Craig (Andrea) De Cleene; Bryan Nagorny, Brooke (Kenny) VanDeHei, Rick Poquette, Sarah Poquette (Phoenix Daniels), Timothy Waldburger, Derek Waldburger, Josie Dake, Kylie Dake, and Max Dake; 10 great-grandchildren; one brother Gordon Gerrits, Appleton; and one sister, Grace VanderHeiden, Kimberly. He was further preceded in death by a step-son: Nick Laska; six sisters; two sister’s in-law; and five brother’s in-law.
Mass of Christian burial for Marvin will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday November 29, 2017 at ST. EDWARD CATHOIC CHURCH, N2926 State Highway 47, Appleton, with Fr. Walter Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be held at the church Wednesday morning beginning at 9:30 until 10:45 AM, with Mass to follow at 11:00 AM.
