Joyce Ann (Brumm) Knitt, Appleton, passed away December 8, 2018 surrounded by her family.
Joyce was born December 12, 1937 to Roy & Gladys (Fenster) Brumm and grew up in Middleton in a home her father built. She adored going fishing with him as a child but really never liked the taste of fish. Joyce graduated from Wartburg College where she met the love of her life, Leon. They were married June 12, 1960 and celebrated 58 wonderful years together. She first worked in social work at an adoption agency while Leon attended Seminary and later as a secretary in the school offices of Appleton West for 23 years. As a true Pastor’s wife, Joyce took an active part in church and nursing home programs over the years. A loving mother, she sewed clothing for the family (including her youngest daughter’s wedding dress as well as her own) and was a faithful volunteer and supporter of her children’s activities. Joyce also enjoyed gardening, traveling, was a wonderful cook and hostess, kept an immaculate house, and loved to decorate for the seasons.
Joyce is survived by her husband Leon, son Kevin, daughters Karmin Boedeker (Linn), Kelli Shepard (Dan Van Veghel), grandchildren Kelsey, Ryan, Erica, brother James Brumm, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, father and mother-in-law William & Carrie, brothers and sisters-in-law Donald & Leoma, Carl & LaVonne, Delores, Marla, and son-in-law Bruce.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 21, 2018 from 3:00-7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 6:30 pm, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond St, Appleton. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 3:00 pm with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm, at Faith Lutheran Church 601 E. Glendale Ave, Appleton, with the Rev. Kyle Jones officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
