JoAnn Mary (Vandenberg) Schroeder

JoAnn Mary Schroeder, 87, passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 24, 2019 at Rennes Health and Rehab Center, Appleton. She was born in Kaukauna on December 4, 1931, daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Croell) Vandenberg. JoAnn married Norbert Schroeder on May 25, 1954 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Little Chute. Norbert preceded her in death on October 15, 1994.

JoAnn worked at Kimberly Clark. She later worked at Einstein Jr. High School as a vending machine attendant, and a school bus driver for Kobussen, Rohms and Lamers, retiring after 34 years, at the age of 77. JoAnn loved being a school bus driver, seeing the students daily and making sure they were safely transported was her main priority. She also served as the secretary for the Outagamie County Conservation Women’s Auxiliary for many years.

JoAnn was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. JoAnn and Norb enjoyed spending time at their trailer in Carter, WI; with the entire family.  

JoAnn is survived by her three children: two sons: Dave (Kay), Little Chute and Dan (Pat), Appleton; and daughter, Debbie Allen (fiancé Mike Krueger), Appleton; her five grandchildren: Andy (Heidi), Cascade, WI; Angie (Nic), Appleton, Eric, Little Chute, Kyle (Heidi), Black Creek, and Keith Schroeder, Dale; 10 great grandchildren: Alaska, Lacey, Cassidy, Nicholas, Colton, Corben, Naomi, Savana, Skyler and Slayden; sister, Ione (Harvey) Minten, The Villages, FL; sister in-law, Nancy Schroeder, Phelps. JoAnn was further preceded in death by two sisters: Pauline and June; and three brothers: Erving, Giles and Kenny.

Mass of Christian burial for JoAnn will be 11:00 AM on Friday August 2, 2019 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W Marquette St; Appleton, with Fr, James Jugenheimer officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday morning beginning at 9:00 until 10:45 AM with Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. Entombment will be at Highland Memorial Park.
