Janice A. Holland, 80, formerly of Appleton, Wisconsin passed away Monday January 1, 2018 at Waterford of Oshkosh. She was born June 4, 1937, the daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Hoppe) Holland. She graduated from Appleton High School. She never married or had children of her own, but her brother Don's six children became her family. She loved spending time with them and was a very generous person. She was a devoted daughter to her mother and made a good living for the two of them until her mom's passing. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, reading the bible, the Packers and spending time with family and friends. She always went all out for the annual 4th of July picnic.

She worked several jobs and spent 32 years as a clerk/typist at Appleton Papers. In her 50s she attended Fox Valley Technical College to update her computer skills. She was proud of that accomplishment. She retired at age 70 from Fleet Farm as a personnel clerk.

She had a childlike faith and a true love for Jesus. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1999 she placed her trust in Him. When her hair fell out, due to chemotherapy, she chose a blonde wig to see if "Blondes really do have more fun".  That's just the way she was. No matter what life dealt her, she remained firm in her faith and always tried to look at the positive side of things. In her last few years she was diagnosed with dementia. Even though she was unable to live on her own anymore, she accepted having to move to a nursing home and later assisted living.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Russell and Donald Holland, and great-nephew Christopher Holland. She will be missed by her family including: Fr. Michel Holland OSB of Indianapolis, IN; Mark (Lori) Holland of Oshkosh, Mary (Larry) Adler of Winston-Salem, NC; Cathy (Dennis) Kallin of Oshkosh; John (Jyll) Holland of Oshkosh; Thomas (Annika) Holland of Oshkosh, her godson, Steve Anderson of Oshkosh, and her great and great-great nieces and nephews and her very good friend, Geri Hansen of New Berlin, WI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm, noon, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 E. Lourdes Drive with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10:30am until 11:45 am. Interment will take place privately at Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
