James Lawrence Oates, Sr.

James Lawrence Oates, Sr. passed away unexpectedly October 6, 2019, at his home in Appleton, WI. He was born February 21, 1954 in Elmhurst, IL. He is survived by his mother Joyce Oates, former Wife Karla Oates, his 3 children James L. Oates Jr., Brandelynn Oates, and Rebekah Oates; his Son-in-law Joseph Deforest and former daughter-in-law Lennah Coffel-Oates; granddaughter Raeann Oates; his brothers Harry Oates (Donna), and Richard Oates, Sr. (Elizabeth) and sister, Lorraine Roberts (Greg).  He was preceded in death by his father Harry Oates Sr.

 James (also known as Jim or Satch) was a loving father, son, grandfather, uncle, and nephew. He was loved by all. He loved God and was blessed to fulfill his dream of going to Israel. He has been a truck driver for 40+ years and enjoyed his job at YRC, Inc. He spoke highly of his co-workers/friends. His laugh was contagious and filled the room with joy everywhere he went and if you needed it or asked him to, he was always willing to pray with or for anyone that asked (or didn’t sometimes). He will be greatly missed, and he is rejoicing with the angels (and probably making them laugh).

Memorial service will be Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 1:00 pm, at Maranatha Assembly of God, 2505 N Ringwood Rd, McHenry, IL 60050.
