Hannah Caves Obituary

Hannah Caves, 24, beloved daughter, sister, cousin, niece, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on January 9th, 2023.  She was born on February 25th, 1998, in Appleton, WI to James and Tina Caves.  She graduated from Hortonville High School in 2016 with high honors.  She went on to graduate Magna Cum Laude from Carroll University in Waukesha and received her BSN in Nursing, also receiving Tau Mu honors.

Hannah was a truly unique and beautiful soul.  Always headstrong, when she set her mind to a goal, her sharp mind and tenacity shined through, yet those who knew her remember her beautiful smile, her contagious laughter, her off-beat sense of humor and her personal style most.  Hannah valued art and beauty in all its forms.  She loved dance, theatre, museums, fashion, movies, literature, poetry, and had a special place in her heart for music.  Our home was filled with the sound of her singing and playing the ukulele (even at times when we wanted quiet).  What wouldn’t be given to hear her voice again.

She loved travel and learning about other places.  She was fortunate enough in high school and college to take trips to Belize, Guatemala, and Ireland.  Her favorite family vacations took her to Italy and Hawaii.  Her adventurous nature wanted to meet the local people, learn about their culture, and always try new foods.

As much as she loved travel, she loved spending time with her family.  She was a special friend to the family dogs, Casey and Reggie, and always took time to show them love.  Her favorite time of the year were the holidays, travelling to Auntie Kami and Uncle Terry’s house to see cousins, aunts, and uncles.  She treasured those special family times and memories and could never wait until the next opportunity to see everyone.

Hannah was smart and determined, she excelled at everything she set her mind to, and if you were Hannah’s people, the world was a better place.  As a nurse, Hannah’s patients came to know they would be well cared for.  Her desire to help and her work ethic would not allow her to rest until she had gone above and beyond.  Her family, her high school and college friends, her work colleagues and friends, and her community all understand what it was like to feel the warmth of her love and laughter.  Hannah felt that she had found a calling in psychiatric nursing and was so excited to bring her experience to her new job, and to contribute to that field.  The world is poorer for having lost her voice.

Hannah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Philip and Vanetta Caves and Kenneth and Sandra Klimpke, Uncle Kerry Caves and Cousin Teegan Quinter.  She is survived by her parents, James and Tina Caves, her brothers, Samuel and Sawyer, her special godparents, Auntie Kami Quinter and Uncle Brian Klimpke, her aunts and uncles and many cousins who loved her, and her lifelong best friend Sophie.  A private service was held in Hannah’s honor.

Hannah, Hanrahan, HannahBear, Caves.  Our hearts are shattered.  Please know how infinitely much you are loved.  We feel blessed to know you.  We stand grateful knowing you are safely home with God, but we will live each day with a piece of our soul missing until that day we awaken on your shore.
