Jane Marie Pennings (nee’ Heimerl), 81, of Appleton, passed away Saturday November 4, 2017. She was born on March 3, 1936 in Greenleaf, WI; daughter of the late Anton and Irma (Hockers) Heimerl. Jane attended St. Mary’s Grade School in Greenleaf and east DePere High School. She married Marvin Pennings on June 15, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Jane farmed with her husband Marvin, first in Freedom and later in the Appleton/Greenville area. She also worked at Manderfield’s Bakery; Amberfield’s Bakery, Kimberly Clark and worked on the election board for many years. Jane enjoyed knitting and crocheting items for her family and spending time with Marvin and the family at their cottage in Lakewood. She was also a 4-H leader with the B-Square 4-H Club.
Jane is survived by her two sons: Daniel (Mary Kay) Pennings, Appleton and Bruce (Lori) Pennings, Appleton; two daughters: Mary (Tom) Pritzl, Appleton and Julie (Bill) Novak, Clintonville; seven grandchildren: Jamie (Joe) Jungwirth, Neenah, Ben (Jill) Pennings, Corcoran, MN, Heather (Jon) Otto, Greenville, Travis (Brittany)Pennings, Minnetonka, MN, Emily Pritzl (fiancé Tanner Russell), Appleton, George Pritzl, and Amanda (Ehrick)George, Sheboygan; five great-grandchildren: Annie, Lucy, Makenna, Jackson and Madison. She is further survived by her sister Ann Ley; three sister’s in-law: Betty, Phyllis and Donna (Jerome) Heimerl; brother in-law Don (Geraldine) Pennings; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was further preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; four brothers: Harvey, Earl, Eugene and Hugh Heimerl; two brothers in-law: Don Ley and Clarence Pennings; three sisters in-law: Dorothy and Bonnie Heimerl, and Ruth Pennings.
A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 AM on Tuesday November 7, 2017 at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Adam Bradley officiating. Visitation will be held Monday evening at Valley Funeral Home from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at the church Tuesday morning from 10:00 until 11:15 AM, with Mass to follow at 11:30 AM. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial is being established in Jane’s name.
