Radtke, Howard Louis
Howard Louis Radtke was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born November 7, 1920 in the home of his parents, Edward F. and Helene ( Mittlestadt ) Radtke, Weyauwega, WI. He was baptized on December 5, 1920 by Reverend J G Oehlert, confirmed at St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church by Reverend Max Hensel on May 25, 1934, memory verse: Ephesians 4:24 "and to put on a new self, created to be like God in the true righteousness and holiness". He graduated from Weyauwega High School in 1939, moved to Appleton in 1940 and enlisted in the United States Navy on September 15, 1942 and spent the next 18 months in the South Pacific area. He was ARM 1st Class ( Aviation Radioman First Class ) and honorably discharged at Great Lakes, IL on October 14, 1945. Howard married Marjorie Schwoch in 1945. After earning his Wisconsin State Master Plumbing License on May 11, 1959, together with his father and brother, Edward, owned and operated Edw F. Radtke Plumbing and Heating business. He was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church and worked with the Men's Club, Lay Ministry, Greeters and Cashiers. Howard is survived by wife, Marjorie, son Gerald and daughter Carol of Appleton. A sister, Beatrice Zabel, Oconomowoc, one brother Edward J ( Elaine ) Radtke of Appleton, sister-in-law Fern Kern ( Fox Lake ) and brother-in-law Donald Schwoch ( King, WI ), nieces, nephews, cousins and many relatives and friends. Preceding in death were his mother Helene ( Mittlestadt ) Radtke in 1931, father Edward F., step-mother Elizabeth, brother Earl, nephew Dennis, niece Patricia and three brothers-in-law Duane Schwoch, Robert Kern and Elder Zabel. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 13, 2011 at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of N. Morrison and E. Franklin, Appleton with Reverend Donald Ninmer officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be held at Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. The family has established a memorial fund.
